Matt Homer is the Managing Member of The Department of XYZ, a venture capital firm investing in early stage startups that are building new financial systems. He is also on the board of Gemini Trust Company and Standard Custody & Trust.

A two-time regulator, Matt recently served as the Executive Deputy Superintendent at the New York State Department of Financial Services, overseeing fintech, crypto, and more. In this role, he led the Department's licensing and supervision of many of the largest digital asset firms. Immediately prior to launching The Department of XYZ, he was Executive in Residence at Nyca Partners, a leading fintech venture firm, where he led the fund’s investments in the blockchain space. 

He was previously Head of Policy at Quovo, which was acquired by Plaid. He's held roles at the FDIC and US Agency for International Development, promoting inclusive fintech in emerging markets. Matt has advised institutions like the UN Capital Development Fund, the World Bank, and the Cambridge Center for Alternative Finance. He holds a masters from the Harvard Kennedy School.
